Description |
Pack Saddle. Written in black magic marker on one side "used around 1889 on packhorses". Written on opposite side "property of Pete Gildness, Cordova, Ak". NOTE: Pete Gildness was an old timer who originally was from Norway. He lived at 5 1/2 mile. After his death, his home was sold to Jerry LeMaster. Jerry's home was destroyed during the avalanche in February 1999, killing his partner Martha Quales. Jerry was found alive, after several hours of search & rescue, underneath the snow. He suffered from a broken arm and hypothermia. The pack saddle & gardening tool remained intact after the avalanche. |
